“I haven’t felt motivated to practice since the pandemic started”

“I’m worried that my old injuries will come back when I go back to my regular practice & performance schedule”

“I’m in pain now”

“I’ve been in pain before, and I don’t want to be again”

“I struggle with calming my mind before performances”

“I need to find a way to focus better during practice sessions”

“I feel like my body is getting in the way of my playing”

If you said ‘yes’ …

You are not alone! Too many musicians believe that we cannot talk about these things, and that the pain is just “a part of the job.”

I’m here to tell you that it is not.

Join this community of musicians who know that there is an easier way!

But what is a soundbath?

“you don’t have to believe if soundbaths affect you or not, it just happens.” -Jeff Grant

‘Sound waves have the ability to activate both the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system. Think about how you would respond to a sudden FIRE ALARM versus soft waves on a quiet beach....without even thinking, your brain and body will have VERY different reactions to these sounds.

My goal in a soundbath is to provide those calming sounds that have an affect on the body. Using mostly large gongs and crystal bowls, I create vibrations that can create a soothing and calming effect. This is all to promote relaxation in the body and mind.’

What kind of yoga will we be practicing?

The movement that I teach is a mixture of a few different things. I teach Vinyasa, which is a classical style of movement that is generally quicker paced, and focuses on the breath-to-movement flow that can really get you in to a meditative state through those two things (breath and movement). I also teach Yin yoga, which is a much slower paced practice that puts stress (the good kind!) on connective tissues and ligaments, which will strengthen your joints. I have found this combination to be extremely therapeutic for myself and my fellow musicians.

I also will be throwing in bits of MFR (myofascial release, self massage, and trigger point therapy!)

In Full Body Musician, we will focus on different styles of breath and meditation to focus and calm the mind.

It’s nice to meet you

I’m Kat

I’m a freelance flutist, teacher and yoga instructor, usually based in Los Angeles, but spending some time in Michigan during the pandemic. I first stepped onto a yoga mat at a Yoga For Performers class while attending the University of Michigan for Flute Performance. I found yoga to be endlessly therapeutic for the mind, body and spirit. I was able to find a creative, physical, and emotional outlet in her yoga practice that allowed her to approach her flute playing with a new sense of joy and curiosity. I strongly believe in building a strong foundation in the body, mind and the breath. After that happens, everything else falls into place. I am thrilled to offer yoga for musicians in order to offer the same sense of belonging, self understanding, and excitement that I continue to find in my own practice! I teach with a 200-hour Power Yoga certification along with both Yin and Yoga Sculpt certifications. I’m currently working towards becoming a 500-hour certified instructor in Yoga Therapy.

I’m Jeff

I’m a percussionist based in Los Angeles, California.  I am a member of the Long Beach Symphony and active freelance musician in Southern California. I have have performed regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic since 2014, performed on Grammy winning albums and toured across the globe. I have a growing private percussion studio and also practice sound therapy with handmade gongs and crystal bowls in a variety of settings around Los Angeles.

I am a certified soundbath practitioner, and I believe that vibrations, meditation and movement have the power to change our bodies.

close your eyes, take a breath, and ask yourself……

How would it feel to actually be excited about a practice session?

How would it feel to play your instrument with ease and without pain?

How would it feel to wake up in the morning, knowing that you are investing and committing to yourself in a way that you never have before?

How would it feel to finally take care of yourself in a real way?

Are you ready for this?

With Total Shift’s thoughtful
guidance, I was able to get back to feeling great by pushing myself
just a little bit at a time.

"As someone who makes their living playing an instrument in a professional orchestra, how my body feels from day-to-day has an enormous impact on how I do my job. With Total Shift’s thoughtful guidance, I was able to get back to feeling great by pushing myself just a little bit at a time. And simply having the class on my schedule was super helpful in keeping me accountable!

The “Full Body Musician” program is unlike traditional yoga classes in that there is a combination of workshop style mindset activities paired with a focused yoga session. And if you’ve never experienced a Total Shift sound bath, you have no idea what you’re missing!

The Total Shift yoga sound bath sessions are the best 90 minutes of my week."

worried that it’s not the right time to spend $$ on self care?

I get it. I really do. It’s hard to justify spending cash when work isn’t exactly rolling in. Here is my question to you. When is it the right time to spend $ on self care? Why not now? If work hasn’t started up again, it will soon. When it does, I want to help ensure that you are at your best, both mentally and physically.

The time to invest in your self care is not in the future, it’s today.

REgular Price: $247

Today’s price: $197
